Hi, it’s Jen DeTracey, the founder of LIFT Strategies, one of Canada’s top marketing strategist and the author of the Lift Strategies: Quick Tips to Engage Customers and Elevate Results
Welcome to this week’s rock star tip. In fact, actually, I’m going to switch because these are my polarized sunglasses, and I can’t see much at all. I’ll just move back to the regular goggles.
That’s why I was wearing the sunglasses, and I’m talking about fan club here and niching your marketplace.
Last week, we talked about the number one reason. Today we’re going to talk about the second reason why it’s important to niche your marketplace. Now again, we’ll go back to the scenario I was talking last week or over the last couple of weeks about finding the right place to go and network.
In your marketing, there needs to be a common message or common thread. When you get clear about who your niche is, it is so much easier to market your business. Easy is good.
I want to give you two examples. One is one of the business owners, he’s a franchisee, he owns a franchise, the UPS store franchise in Alberta. He’s been at it for several years, and he’s very successful. His name is Nasser. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me telling you his name. He’s been through my Crack the Marketing Code Online Program. In fact, he’s done it twice because he just wanted to get it right!
I was having a conversation with him about how things were going. Nasser said to me, “Jen, I used to go to this group and network every week, BNI,” Business Networking International. He said that he was getting a return on his investment, and that was okay, but he didn’t really know what to say or how to express himself. It was hard for him. He felt uncomfortable.
After going through the Crack the Marketing Code Program and following the 4-step process to develop his core message, he understands who his niche is. This was a huge eye-opener for him. Once he understood who his niche was, he now felt empowered and confident to communicate who his fans are and how his business is connected with that.
It’s such an empowering experience when you niche your marketplace and you get clear, your confidence increases. When you go out into the world and you communicate that message, it has to be practiced, but it gets easier.
My core message, which has evolved and changed over time, is now “My mission is to help solo and small business owners develop and hone their marketing mindsets so they can build their fan club and ultimately run a profitable business. I do that through my proven marketing process (online program – Crack the Marketing Code), one-on-one and in groups.
It’s so easy for me to share this message. I want it to be easy for you, too, but you can’t do that part of the process; you can’t really develop that core message until you define who that niche is.
That’s the number two reason why it’s so important to define your niche is so that you can get clear about communicating a really powerful core message and have the confidence and the clarity to do it. That is this week’s rock star quick tip.
