Reflecting and Moving Forward
On New Year’s Eve, I had dinner with a few of my closest friends. During the meal, I pulled out a padded envelope filled with questions and asked each friend to pull one out and answer it. Then, after the question was answered, the rest of us at the table would follow suit.
Of the eight questions, some reflected on events that happened during 2011 and others had us thinking about things we wanted to happen in 2012.
You may feel inclined to answer them, so here they are:
1. What are you most grateful for during 2011 (can be more than one thing)?
2. What is one thing you did in 2011 that you are proud of?
3. What was the most difficult obstacle you overcame in 2011?
4. What was your biggest learning or lesson in 2011?
5. If you could meet a specific person in 2012, who would that be (name and reason for meeting them)?
6. What is one thing in 2012 you want to do that you have never done before?
7. What project do you want to complete or start in 2012?
8. Who do you want to be this year?
I’d love to hear your responses to one or more of these questions. Feel free to post it on my blog.
The Book
The name for my new book is now confirmed. Thanks again for all of your contributions and ideas. They were very helpful. Pat Tripp sent me a long list of ideas and I was able to pull from these concepts.
The title is:
Lift Strategies – Quick Tips to Engage Customers and Elevate Profits.
The book will be available on Amazon early this spring. I will keep you posted.

Wow Weaver, thanks for sharing so much. What great accomplishments. Your vision for 2012 looks very inspiring with a twist of stretching your limits:)
1.What are you most grateful for during 2011 (can be more than one thing)?
– that I have a gracious and forgiving Saviour
– that my wife and son love me when I don’t love myself
2.What is one thing you did in 2011 that you are proud of?
I did more “in-person-cold-calling” to try and grow my photography business.
3.What was the most difficult obstacle you overcame in 2011?
My health. I’ve struggled with fatigue for 5 years and although I still deal with it on a daily basis I’m still alive and able to make it through each day.
4.What was your biggest learning or lesson in 2011?
– don’t spend money on impulse purchases. Think about it for a few days and then make your decision on whether or not it’s worth spending your money.
5.If you could meet a specific person in 2012, who would that be (name and reason for meeting them)?
I would like to meet HDR photographer Trey Ratcliff because it’s through him that I was exposed to a new type of photography. It’s made a world of difference to the images I am able to produce.
6.What is one thing in 2012 you want to do that you have never done before?
Purchase a season’s pass for our local ski hill.
7.What project do you want to complete or start in 2012?
I want to complete my second year-long daily photo project. You can follow my current year’s project on my blog at http://goo.gl/9hVfI. My first year’s images can be seen on my blog at http://goo.gl/qZqXh.
8.Who do you want to be this year?
I want to be someone who is more content with whatever life throws at me whether it be good or challenging.
Hi Curtis – I fixed the URL issue. Thanks for your comments.
1)I am most grateful to have learned in 2011 what is most important to me in life. The deaths of my parents taught me to express love to others while you have the chance. The near death of my son taught me how powerful love and life are. It might sound strange to be grateful for negative experiences, but realizing you would give your life for someone else without question is the most powerful experience I have ever gone through. I am grateful for the new strength, tolerance and confidence I now have in all aspects of my life.
Ellen – what a turning point year you have had with some huge upheaval. It sounds like you have turned a major corner, it is so true, unconditional love and gratitude are so incredibly powerful. Thanks for sharing your journey.
