Overnight Success Took Seventeen Years
Build Your Fan Club – One Fan at a Time
I have been going to the same hair stylist for almost seventeen years. He moved to Vancouver around the same time that I did. What’s cool about our relationship is that we have seen one another grow in both our businesses and our personal lives.
It’s a relationship of trust and longevity. Although I’m not always pleased about every new style he does, I know it will always grow into looking great. Mo’s clientele has grown so much over the years that I often need to book my appointments two to three months in advance. For the most part, Mo will not accept new clients unless they are referred to by the ones he already has because his appointment schedule is so backlogged.
The first time I had my hair cut by Mo was in his kitchen. Then he started working at a well-known hair salon in Vancouver and started to build his client fan base. Over the years he has provided exceptional service and the result has been loyal fans. When Mo changed locations, I followed.
It takes time to build a fan club. It doesn’t happen quickly. Overnight success is an illusion that usually comes from many years of building a strong foundation. When it comes to building your organization’s foundation, what are you doing to satisfy your existing customers?
